East Africa is not experienced as a collection of parks.
It unfolds as a living story across landscapes — a progression from savannah plains to volcanic mountains, from ancient rainforests to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
The Orok Safari Story Map brings this geography together into one elegant framework, guiding travellers
through the region’s great ecosystems while revealing how each destination connects to the next.
Across this map lie the golden plains of Serengeti National Park, the wildlife-rich savannahs of Maasai Mara National Reserve, the volcanic sanctuary of Ngorongoro Crater, the elephant valleys of Amboseli National Park, the mist-covered
forests of Volcanoes National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and the quiet coastal horizons of Zanzibar and Diani Beach.
“Each landscape represents a chapter of the safari story.”

East Africa is not a collection of isolated destinations.
It is a living landscape where ecosystems flow into one another across mountains, savannahs, and forests. .
For thousands of years wildlife has moved across these lands without borders. Elephants follow ancient migration routes. Wildebeest travel between seasonal grasslands.
Mountain gorillas live quietly within volcanic forests that rise above the plains.
The Orok East Africa Journey Map reflects this natural continuity.
Rather than designing safaris around individual parks, Orok journeys follow the geography of the region itself.
Across this map travellers move gradually through the great ecosystems of the continent.
Savannah → Highlands → Forest → Ocean.
Each stage reveals a different expression of Africa.

The Great Savannah Ecosystem
The journey often begins across the legendary grasslands of Serengeti National Park and Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Together these two regions form one vast ecosystem spanning Tanzania and Kenya. It is here that the Great Migration unfolds each year as more than two million wildebeest and zebra travel across the plains in search of fresh grazing.
This landscape is defined by:
• vast open horizons
• acacia-dotted savannahs
• predator-rich wildlife territories
• seasonal rivers and migration crossings
It is the classic image of Africa — endless plains where lions roam and herds stretch beyond the horizon.
Many Orok journeys such as Rivers of the Great Migration and The Crown of East Africa begin here.
